The course is designed to inform and train key staff to become competent in preventing, reducing and managing moving and handling tasks. This is done through the correct application of risk assessment, moving and handling techniques and use of appropriate equipment.
The course will create a clear understanding of the risk assessment process. On successful completion delegates will be able to problem solve difficult patient handling tasks and provide realistic solutions. In addition they will be able to teach colleagues on correct moving and handling techniques.
The aim of this course is to train key clinical staff to be competent to manage and reduce the risks of musculoskeletal injuries and ill health in their work area.
Course content is done in modular format and includes:
Understanding the moving and handling risk assessment process.
Techniques for moving and handling people and inanimate loads and teaching these techniques.
Problem solving complex people moving and handling tasks using the TILE risk assessment and a variety of moving and handling equipment available.
The course is designed for clinical staff who work in hospitals, wards and theatres, the community, nursing and care homes. If you do not have a clinical background please contact us to discuss if this course will be suitable for you to attend
Support, assessment and feedback is given at regular intervals during the course.
Delegates will need to be able to perform all moving and handling tasks safely for the practical assessment scenarios.
On successful completion of the course you will receive an IOSH approved certificate.
