Testimony from the OT (Mabel Pritchard School)

“Having attended a mandatory manual handling I still had difficulties and concerns how best to handle some of our pupils safely but whilst still maximising and giving them the opportunities to use the movements they had.

Sallyann was able to talk through each of the pupils in turn and help us problem solve and gave us ideas to try and work on with the pupils once she had left.  I found this day tremendously helpful.  We have since ordered specific pieces of equipment she suggested to try with the pupils.”

Testimony from an NHS Trust in Oxford

Sally Ann was such a helpful resource during the recent admission of a young person with a conversion disorder.  Being a mental health unit we do not have many admissions presenting with physical disabilities, and there was some anxiety and uncertainty amongst the staff regarding the management of this slightly unusual case.

Sally Ann’s skills shone in the way she could listen to the challenges and then could problem solve and offer practical solutions based on her experience.  She was hugely effective in reducing staff’s anxiety.

Sally Ann was extremely thorough in her approach, and would often send helpful research articles she had sourced, further tips and a summary of the suggestions she made during the staff training sessions.  She bought equipment along for staff to try, demonstrating this with the young person and encouraged staff to use this whilst she was there, as she provided encouragement and guidance.  Sally Ann obviously has a wealth of experience and she has an impressive pool of creative solutions to problems.  She really gave the staff the confidence to think outside the box, using a graded and logical approach.

She was genuinely interested in the wellbeing and progress of the young person admitted and I am personally grateful for the support and advise she was able to provide.”
